The property market has been awake now for over a week as the Christmas decorations come down and everyone’s thoughts turn to their plans for 2020. Rightmove comfortingly experienced its annual hike in activity on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, showing us that the movers and shakers are out there and raring to go.

Now back behind our desks, we are fielding a much higher number of calls and enquiries and the feeling is firm in the industry that we are shaking off the hard times of 2019 and moving into a bright 2020.

If you are planning a move in 2020, it is definitely worthwhile taking a look at your own timeline and when you would like to be in your new home. If the answer is by the summer, now is the time to get going. The average time it takes to secure a sale in this area is 11 weeks (although a driven agent will want to beat this) followed by a similar time frame for the legal process to be completed and take ownership of your new home. This means that you could be looking at 6 months before moving, so time is certainly of the essence.

The exact impact of our newly elected government remains to be seen, but it’s so far so good as far as the property market is concerned. We have seen an increase in activity from all buyers, including investors, which is always good news and first time buyers are also coming forward, bringing long overdue movement to the High Wycombe market.

We are very much looking to maximise every opportunity in 2020; talk to us about your plans and we will help you make them a reality.
